I am the module leader for the minor illness and minor injury for advanced practice module at the University of Hertfordshire. The teaching for this module is provided by a variety of lecturers with different areas of interest and experience through a mixture of face-face-to-face teaching, workshops and discussion forums to explore the theory underpinning the management of minor illness and injury. The practice placement is a vital element of the course as it allows students to put theory into practice and develop the knowledge, skills and attributes necessary to safely assess patients with minor illness or minor injury using a systems-based approach, identifying appropriate management strategies and/or onward referral for each patient. The PebblePad allows students to accurately record all elements involved in their placement and demonstrate competence in managing a range of minor illnesses and injuries.
