I am the module leader for the Advance Airway Management and Ventilation module, that forms part of the MSc Advanced Paramedic Practice – Emergency and Critical Care. The teaching on this module is provided by current UH staff with experience in critical care and supported by visiting lecturers with backgrounds in Paramedic critical care and medical critical care. The course consists of a mixture of theory, clinical skill workshops and simulation. The workshops and simulations account for ~50% of the module, and attendance is compulsory. During the workshops and simulations, students undertake the role of leading and supporting the clinician in managing airway and ventilation for patients presenting with critical injury or illness. Students will be required to keep a clinical log and complete a Pebble Pad portfolio to record clinical interventions and demonstrate learning of the module outcomes.
